MySims News

19 Sep 2024 - 15:18

Because I have so much to say about why I'm changing things, I shared the above images on socials. There is no way I could have really explained all of this in just a tweet, toot, thread or post. However, for the visually impaired, alt text is really important, and this would also be too long for that. So I decided to add everything I had to say in the images to this blog post, so everyone can read it. Furthermore I added a list of current, recently changed and future socials for SimsNetwork below.

I changed my Twitch username from SNWgames to RosieSoCosy in 2022. No regrets there. Best choice ever. I've had countless compliments about the name. And I am in love with the name too, which is very important.

I've been on the fence about a few things since though. The first thing was my Sims 4 gallery name, which I've since changed to match my Twitch name. I wondered if that was the right thing to do, wouldn't people be confused? But this way it matches my Twitch name. It's better this way.

Some time ago I had the opportunity to join the affiliate program, so I also got my own creator code, which is RosieSoCosy! I haven't had time to celebrate and share this yet, but you can already use it during checkout on the EA app.

But now I'm struggling with a new dilemma...

I haven't uploaded to my SimsNetwork YouTube channel in years. And even when I tried, my channel remained at < 1500 subscribers. Which is a lot if you don't have any, but if you have 1500 and only a few watch, and you don't really seem to grow the channel, would it be so weird to want to start over using the new name?

I can't change the old channel to RosieSoCosy, as I've already set up a YT account with this (user)name back in 2022. So I'm thinking about making Sims content on my RosieSoCosy channel in the future. The SimsNetwork channel will continue to exist, but it's unlikely I'll upload new things to that one. Problem solved?

Now the next dilemma:

I haven't uploaded any new custom content in ages on the SimsNetwork site. Not just because of time and health issues. But because somehow the name doesn't feel right anymore. I've been RosieSoCosy for a while now and it's the first name I really love. It's not based on my site's name, but rather on me and what I like; cosy stuff! But I'm not willing to let go of the SimsNetwork (domain) name, content and history entirely. There is 20+ years of history there! So I should go about this differently.

I don't want to move all my Sims stuff to my RosieSoCosy blog, as I already have so many projects on there. I prefer my Sims stuff on its own site. Later this year I'm going to re-work the SimsNetwork site and change it to RosieSoCosy's SimsNetwork. Don't worry, it'll look nice! It will still have my old content. I'll update old files, and upload new creations using my RosieSoCosy name.

This will also make more sense to visitors when I use my own RosieSoCosy illustrations and patterns on SimsNetwork.

I hope you all understand these upcoming changes. I hope whoever still follows me here and reads this is with me on this. I think it'll be a good change!

This might actually be what I need to finally get back into creating and uploading my Sims CC again. I miss creating and sharing it!

On the socials I will continue to use my SNW and SimsNetwork accounts to share news, custom content and Sims videos. In that sense, nothing will change for you. But you'll just be seeing a lot more RosieSoCosy!

My Sims socials/sites are and will be:

SimsNetwork website

The website will stay on the domain name(s) people are used to now. I will give it a huge makeover/facelift and I will rename it to RosieSoCosy's SimsNetwork.

SNW on Twitter/X

This will remain SNW, because I can't change it to SimsNetwork without paying Elon Musk. I also already have SimsNetwork on another account, so that would be another issue. I have the most followers on this account, so I don't want to start over. However:

SimsNetwork on Twitter/X

I also have SimsNetwork here, and I will try to focus on updates only on this account. So basically Sims news and custom content, video's. But no conversational stuff like I do on SNW.

SimsNetwork on Instagram

I've changed the name from SNWgames to SimsNetwork some time ago. Will continue to use this properly. Or I'll try.

SimsNetwork on Threads

I will treat Threads much like I do Instagram. I'll share updates and check some other Simmers' stuff too. But I won't be using it much for conversation like I do on Twitter.

SimsNetwork on Bluesky

Same as Threads, will be using it for updates. Not really to have a lot of deep conversations. Might change in the future though, who knows?

SimsNetwork on Mastodon

This week I migrated from my SNW account to SimsNetwork.

Although I've yet to find a bigger group of Simmers on Mastodon (where are you, Simmers?) I do engage more in conversations here.

SNW on Tumblr

I would love nothing more than changing my username to SimsNetwork. The whole reason I started using SNW and SNWgames as usernames is because sometimes someone would scrape usernames like SimsNetwork to make money, making them unavailable. No way am I going to pay shady people for grabbing names. So SNW it is.

SimsNetwork on YouTube

While this channel will continue to exist, my plans are to keep it as an archive, and I don't really plan on uploading anything anymore in the future. Instead I'll be using:

RosieSoCosy on YouTube

This will not just be a Sims channel. I will share a bunch of other things (other games, vlogs, art videos) here. But I prefer to keep it all in one place, and save myself a lot of work with a lot of different channels.

RosieSoCosy on Twitch

While this won't be a Twitch channel that exclusively streams Sims, I will be streaming lots of Sims on there, but also other games and art. I changed my username from SNWgames to RosieSoCosy in 2022 and I really like the change.

RosieSoCosy on TikTok

Someone else already claimed simsnetwork, so I can't have a SimsTok account. Instead I'll be sharing my Sims related content (as well as art, other games and Twitch clips) on my RosieSoCosy TikTok account.

SNW (snwgames) on Facebook

This is my biggest Facebook page and because of that, probably the one with the biggest reach. I will occasionally use it. However, I now prefer:

SimsNetwork on Facebook

To claim my SimsNetwork username and for future plans, I decided to create the SimsNetwork page on Facebook. I will try to update this one more in the future with news, custom content, videos et cetera.

RosieSoCosy & SimsNetwork (group)

This is the group I've used on Facebook to share my Sims content with people, as well as see other people's Sims content. I will continue to do so in the future.

Cosy Corner on Discord

The Discord used to be SNW, but I changed that in 2022 when I changed my Twitch username. It's now just Cosy Corner, but there is a lot of Sims content there.

I'd like to welcome my fellow Simmers into my cosy corner!

Thank you so much for reading!

xoxo Rosie

For those of you following me on Twitch, I recently made some changes to my Twitch channel. The biggest and most obvious one being, my new name! Which is RosieSoCosy. 😍

I used to be SNWgames on Twitch, but I decided to switch things up. I was unhappy with the name. For starters because streamers would always call me “snow” 😒 which is really not what it stood for to begin with. But I used to stream as SNWgames with hubby (Cheetah) who has expressed he isn’t going to stream alongside me on every occassion anymore. He always told me it’s my channel. So yeah, new name!

When I finally get back to streaming I will still stream Sims games every now and then, as well as other classics such as SimCity, Spore and MySims. But as the name suggests, I will also play (other) cosy games. Not exclusively EA games anymore.

To read more about the history of SNWgames and why I changed it to RosieSoCosy, you can read this in depth article on my RosieSoCosy blog!

To clarify, this is simply about the derived name SNWgames. I will still run the SNW sites. Those are not going anywhere. However the SNWgames (non Sims/Spore) game content will be transferred to RosieSoCosy eventually.

Happy news! If you are a regular here or if you follow me on social media (Twitter, Facebook page, Facebook group, Instagram or Tumblr), you'll probably know about my pregnancy. I posted about health issues and pregnancy complications in January.

Well a few weeks ago on February 11 (a day after my birthday) I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. His name is Levi and he's our third son. Brothers Seth and Quinn are really proud.

As you can probably imagine I'm a bit busy with the baby at the moment. We're not getting much sleep (if any) so I definitely need some time to recover.

Whenever I have some free time (and energy) I will post custom content, as always!

Normally I would post this message on the blog, rather than the news section. But I also realise that most people probably don't actively follow the blog. Hence the decision to post it here instead.

Some of you may know that my partner tszcheetah and I have been expecting our third baby since shortly after we got married in May. I kept in mind that I had pre-eclampsia during my previous pregnancy, and chances were that I would be suffering from this again in another pregnancy, but this wasn't set in stone. Now fortunately as far as we know I'm not currently suffering from pre-eclampsia. But I am being monitored closely. And I'm experiencing a lot of pain (and pain attacks) and complications in this pregnancy, leaving me unable to work on anything that has anything to do with my computer. This includes my job and unfortunately also SNW. I'm mostly on bed rest, so I'm either on the sofa or in bed. I hate that I'm not able to do anything. But I'm mostly in and out of the hospital at the moment, for regular appointments, but also for tests and what not. I'm really tired and ill, and with only 4 weeks to go until the due date, I'm just not very active at the moment. And I wanted to let you all know. As always I will still be back, the moment my health allows me to work at my PC again.

There's a small chance I will work on the site (Laundry Day stuff pack article and perhaps a video) later this week, seeing as we purchased a Steam Link device, so I can use my games whilst in the living room. I have yet to try this out, but I'm eager to do so. I miss playing The Sims (or any other game for that matter!)

I would also like to point out that because of my health issues and my due date being in less than 4 weeks (I'm due on my birthday, Feb 10), we are likely to be very slow responding to messages and comments regarding the website and the Graphics Rules Maker. Especially since my husband is also ill at the moment, and he's the one behind the Graphics Rules Maker tool. We will get back to your messages when we are feeling better. Thank you so much for reading and understanding.

Love xoxo ♥

Came across this interesting article on Nintendo Everything, where they talk about MySims Friends, a cancelled Nintendo 3DS title from 2010. One of the Nintendo Everything readers named Mattrio had an interview with art director Xavier Garcia. Garcia posted images from MySims Friends a couple of years ago. More recently, Garcia was at liberty to share some information about the game.

“StreetPass and other Nintendo connectivity and was essentially an online only game.”

EA cancelled the game because they wanted to steer the entire Sims franchise in a different direction. Unfortunately MySims wasn't part of that new direction.

Behaviour Interactive was hoping to implement the ability to customise the environment in the new MySims Friends game. In the images below you can see how you would be able to take a regular house and turn it into a different style. Styles included Goth, Sporty, Futuristic, Cute, Tasty, Nature, and Fancy.

Here are a few of Garcia's MySims Friends images and captions:

MySims Friends

This is a little old, but the statute of limitations is passed on this (or so I hope! lol). This is a visual target for a MySims project I was involved with a few years ago. The project has been scrapped since.

MySims Friends

Another look at some MySims work, this time is a new character that was going to be introduced. We settled for the one on the right, but I had a soft spot for the first version. His name was Roscoe and he was an explosives specialist.

MySims Friends

Yep, more MySims concept art! We were experimenting with a Ninja village setting and still looking for a visual style.

MySims Friends

A big part of what was going to be the new MySims game was that you could customize your environments, so here I was exploring how you could take a basic house and each version was a different flavor. So we had the default, goth, sporty, futuristic, cute, tasty, nature and fancy.

MySims Friends

These designs were just basic explorations for different silhouettes and architecture

MySims Friends

And here is an overhaul on a flower shop.

MySims Friends

A big part of what was going to be the new MySims game was that you could customize your environments, so here is an in-depth look at how the exploration went. You can see how you can customize one house to have several different flavors, what kind of different houses you can have and how you can overhaul the shops.

Personally I'm really sad that the MySims franchise came to an end. I always liked the MySims games, all of them actually. I have all of them, on all platforms. I would have definitely bought MySims Friends as well!

For those of you wondering why I've been so inactive lately, here's why! I gave birth to Quinn last month. I've been pretty much busy recovering ever since (I had preeclampsia, and a breech baby, so I had to get an emergency cesarean), and of course I've been busy with the baby.

(and no, this isn't my first baby. He has an older brother :P )
